We've had a wonderful first semester!!

Whew!! What a wonderful and busy Fall semester we have had!  Right now we are on our 20th(ish) day of winter break due to the Polar Vortex that made its way through our state and left behind a huge amount of snow & extremely cold temps.  I know that most of us are ready to get back to school for the beginning of the Spring semester.  Until we're officially re-opened for the school year, here are some photographic highlights from 2013.  Enjoy!

It's a VERY important week!

We love our preschool for so many reasons!  We are a group of parents, children, and a teacher who go to school together and learn from one another every day!!  We especially love that the families in Hendricks and surrounding counties have the opportunity to provide their children with an awesome AND affordable preschool education.  It's not just a coincidence that our tuition rates are so reasonable - - - we, like most other not-for-profit organizations, have to raise funds to keep the costs low to our families and to ensure that the parents have control over our children's educations.

This week, September 6th through September 13th, is one of our fundraising weeks and is therefore extra important!  If you have the means to share this post or to contribute to our fundraisers by purchasing some goodies from an Apple House family we would be sincerely thankful!  Here are the descriptions of our current fundraisers:

  • Butter Braid Frozen Pastry Dough - These pastries are PERFECT for an indulgent breakfast or as a dessert after a family meal.  There are several flavors to choose from including Apple, Caramel, Cherry, Cinnamon, Cream Cheese, Double Chocolate, and Strawberry Cream Cheese.  Each pastry is 1lb. 6 oz., comes with icing, and serves 11 people (although I bet you my family of 5 could probably do a number on one). :-)  The cost is $13 per pastry, except for the Double Chocolate which is $14.  These pastries are scheduled to be delivered the week of November 5th and would make a perfect addition to your upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas menus!

  • Abby Candles -  Who doesn't love a delicious and clean smelling home?  Abby Candles has something for every home including jar candles, electric warmers, plug in warmers, wax melts, room sprays, and more!  Visit www.abbycandles.com for a comprehensive list of products available - all made in the USA!  They also offer all natural cookie and cake mixes (made in a peanut free facility) that require NO refrigeration.  One very exciting feature of this sale is that friends and family who live out of town can participate by purchasing online.  If you are interested in purchasing online and do not already have an AH family member to buy from please leave a comment on this post, and I will contact you!  I know that I will absolutely be making some purchases for Christmas gifts and perhaps will be buying my first electric warmer! SO EXCITED!!  These items will be picked up during the week of September 30th and delivered to you by your favorite Apple House student.

  • Finally, we are listed as one of the organizations on www.shopwithscrip.com.  How it works is pretty simple:  After you register using Apple House's unique code, you buy gift cards for the things you already buy (groceries, gas, dining out, etc.) or as gifts.  Our orders are "released" a few times per month, and then the gift cards will make their way to you (depending on how you purchase them, they will either come to your email as a Scripnow! or will be delivered to you by your Apple House student).  Be aware that these gift cards cannot be shipped to you, so if you are ordering a gift card, you'll want to arrange pickup or shipping options with your specific Apple House parent.  To sign up with Scrip cards and to have Apple House be the recipient of the profits, please use the code 33A59LDE25183

We are SO appreciative of the amazing support given by the Apple House families and our community!!  We could not do this without all of you! Thank you!

Up and Running!!

For the 2013-14 school year we thought we'd try something new, and that seems appropriate since we are celebrating Apple House Preschool Cooperative's 30th Anniversary this year!! We've decided to start a blog which will capture some of our awesome preschool memories and will allow us to share the love of Apple House with the world (or at least with our friends and families)!

So, in the coming days and weeks you'll see more frequent posts from us as we highlight fun and exciting moments at Apple House.  We'll also keep you updated with some of the events and fundraisers we do throughout the year and ways you can help support us.

Apple House parents: Hopefully, this blog can be shared with your loved ones who live far away and don't get a chance to see what's going on each day and with friends who ask "what's a preschool co-op all about?".  We would love it if you would share this with your friends and family members and with anyone you think may want to join the Apple House family!

To kick things off right, here are 3 fun facts about this school year:

1.) The theme this year is "Super Heroes".

2.) We will be participating in the Avon Heritage Day Parade which has a "Happy Birthday" theme!

3.)  Our playground recently got a facelift - complete with wooden stumps perfect for sitting, a steering wheel or two, and some noisemakers!
